ELBA-C (Compact OEM Laser)

ELBA-C is a new Compact CW visible fiber laser platform proposed for integration into high performances systems. ELBA platform offers high CW output power at any chosen wavelength in the 530 – 580 nm range (green-yellow).

Main application domains are DNA sequencing, Ophthalmology and Laser Doppler Velocimetry but it might also be used for spectroscopy and trapping applications.

Architecture: The new ELBA platform integrates a high power CW IR fiber laser cavity, made of double clad doped fiber, pumped by single emitter diodes. The IR CW laser is then delivered through a 3-mm jacketed fiber delivery to the wavelength conversion module. The wavelength conversion module is an IP54 certified aluminum box integrating optics and a periodically-poled bulk crystal. It converts the IR CW laser into visible CW laser by second harmonic generation or sum of frequency (depending on wavelength).

Reliability: ELBA platform has been designed to feature extended reliability. It integrates high reliability single emitter diodes presenting a field proven MTTF (mean time to failure) better than 100.000 hours. Quantel fiber laser cavities have also proved their field reliability with the very low return rate reached with YLIA and EYLSA (industrial and scientific) platforms over 8 years of operation. The second harmonic generation modules have passed very stringent testing such as > 5000 hours generating 15 W, 532 nm. No output power or beam quality degradations have been noticed during those tests. ELBA fiber laser is offered with a 1-year warranty period.

Wavelength selection: Double clad Ytterbium-doped fiber enables a 100 nm wide laser emission range (from 1060 to 1160 nm), whether DC Erbium-Ytterbium doped fiber enables emission in the 15XXnm range. In-house designed and manufactured Fiber Bragg Gratings allows wavelength selection within this range.  The crystal structure and its poling is then built to observe quasi-phase matching conditions at selected wavelength.

Performances: ELBA fiber laser might deliver high visible or IR output power through a single mode, polarization maintaining beam. ELBA features high output power stability over temperature and vibration, low integrated intensity noise, and good polarization extinction ratio.

Integration: ELBA platform is compact and modular, easy-to-integrate and easy-to-control. ELBA might be operated in a wide temperature range with a limited heat dissipation. ELBA proposes two modes of control TTL or Ethernet. ELBA has been designed in conformance with medical homologation requirements (CE and FDA) and laser safety requirements.

Maintenance: ELBA fiber laser are maintenance free laser. No internal alignment (all fibers are spliced together), no consumable (diodes,…), no water cooling are required.
